As a director, it makes my heart smile that barrel racing is one of the few sports, where you cheer on your competition. This member spotlight nomination shows that so well! I decided to share this nominator's own words, written from the heart.
"I met Claire for the first time this spring and she quickly became one of my favorite youth riders to watch and talk to!
Claire is not only a phenomenal jockey, with excellent horsemanship skills. She is a prime example of great sportsmanship both in and out of the arena!
When it comes to Claire's main mount "Frosty"... Claire took what she had and made it work! There is no doubt that she is one of those girls who is unstoppable when she sets her mind on something! Through hard work, patience, and determination, she has turned Frosty into a barrel and pole horse that can change the leaderboard anytime she steps into the pen!
You dont see many 1D youth riders who, lose with grace and win with class! Hands down, this girl has mastered both! You can never tell how Claire did by her walk back to the trailer! It doesnt matter if she just ran the fastest time of the weekend or had the worst run she has had all summer, she still keeps a smile on her face and continues to cheer for everyone else regardless!
Claire's one of a kind work ethic, drive, talent, horsemanship skills, positivity, and ability to always remain kind, humble and polite no matter the circumstances.... is inspiring, and contagious! Her dad should be (and is I am sure) PROUD!
I am not afraid to admit that even though I am an adult and have been doing this for a long time..... Competing with this young lady all summer has reminded me that it is important how we conduct ourselves both in and out of the arena! Ever since I started following Claire's example (earlier this year) of how a true competitor conducts themselves..... My season has been a lot more FUN!"
